Pest Control Birds
Bird work is always difficult, and so is
best left to a professional, if only to negiotiate the myriad of
ever-changing legislation that affects working with pest species birds.
Altrincham
Pest Prevention carry out bird pest control work throughout the region.
The
main troublesome species are Sparrows, Pigeons, Starlings and
Magpies. They
foul walkways and masonry, their droppings when allowed to accumulate
are breeding grounds for insects and they are associated with
respiratory diseases such as Ornithosis.
Pest Sparrows and Pest Starlings now have a degree of protection in law
in that it is illegal to destroy their nests or take their eggs or
chicks or to harm the birds.
Therefore
any work against starlings or sparrows must be done after the chicks
have fledged.
Any
accumulation of nesting
material needs to be removed as it provides harbourage for insects and
mites such
as bird mite which can cause skin irritation.
The area
then needs to be treated with an appropriate insecticide before the
entrances are sealed.
Pest
pigeons cause the
greatest of all problems when they roost or nest on or in buildings.
Their droppings foul buildings and walkways and can build up in
substantial quantities in roof spaces and attics.
There
are a number of
options available including bird spike but a site survey will be
necessary to establish the best course of action.
Typical
costs on request after site survey
We
strongly advise getting professional advice before tackling a bird
infestation.
